Mainstay is collaborating with a prominent FM service provider that operates throughout the UK. Due to their growth, they are seeking a Safety, Health, Environmental & Fire Advisor for sites around the Southampton area.
Role
- As the Safety, Health, Environment, and Fire Advisor, your role is to provide guidance and support to ensure that all staff and subcontractors operate in a safe and compliant manner during operations.
- Make sure to follow all regulations and comply with operating guidelines and in line with CDM 2015 regulations.
- Support the Health and Safety audit regime ensuring that BS45001 certification is maintained.
- Functionally, you will be reporting to the Head of SHEF. However, you will also be a subject matter expert in your own right and provide support to the built estate team and contractors.
- Ensure that non-construction work activities, such as Soft Facilities, Grounds Maintenance, and office work, receive the same level of Health and Safety support when applicable.
- Attend and actively participate in management meetings, while also creating detailed and informative analytical reports on a monthly basis along with regular meetings with the client.
- Undertake frequent site inspections to monitor compliance and where needed take decisive actions.
- Run project activities as agreed within the SHEF activities.
- You will deliver general, none accredited health and safety training as required.
- Assisting the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor in the delivery of their duties.
- Support the Zero Harm initiatives across all contracts and assist managers where necessary and support the sustainability initiatives.
- Spot and take appropriate action where Health & Safety is failing.
Candidate
- Previous experience within the same role is essential ideally within the built estate environment and experience in Health and Safety Management in Construction
- Relevant qualifications as NEBOSH, P405 – Asbestos Management, Fire Risk Assessment accredited qualification IOSH / BSC
- Membership of the Association for Project Safety (APS) (or equivalent organisation)
- Graduate member of IOSH and or working towards chartered member
- Confident and knowledgeable in current relevant Health and Safety legislation
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to write reports
- Good presentation skills and confidence in delivering training
- A good level of skill using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Analytical with strong attention to detail
- Full driving licence
