Mainstay is working with a leading FM service provider who is looking for a Health, Safety and Environment Manager for a large single site in the Staffordshire area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that values its staff and continue your career within the health and safety sector.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience and bring passion and enthusiasm to the role with an emphasis on the operational side of FM. You will be working alongside other members of the H&S team and providing high-quality and competent advice and guidance.

The role

  • You will be working within the FM team and provide high-quality and competent specialist support when needed to the wider team and all staff on-site
  • You will be working alongside other members of the Health, Safety, and Environmental team across the site and deliver service by the company service level agreement
  • Overseeing the design and implementation of a risk-based training schedule
  • Reporting on all potential health, safety, and environmental risks across the site and monitoring the performance and prompt action
  • You will be the main functional and specialist point of contact and responsible for driving standards
  • Ensure that all incidents, accidents, and other HS&E data and information are entered correctly into the internal system and in line with the reporting procedure and support with incident/accident investigations as required
  • Provide specialist support to bid development on request
  • Liaise with local customers and third-party organisations as necessary
  • Provide and support with all essential contract compliance and documentation and ISO certification and co-ordinate audits
  • Supporting the business as a whole, ensuring that our customers and those affected by our operations do so in a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible, and acceptable manner

The candidate

  • Previous experience within a similar role is essential, ideally working on large single-site
  • You will have a good understanding of management systems and relevant HS&E requirements such as OHSAS 18001/ISO 14001
  • Hold relevant HS&E qualifications and belong to a related professional organisation at an appropriate level and a membership of IOSH or equivalent is desirable
  • You should be maintaining CPD or working towards
  • You must be about to demonstrate your ability to make decisions and take accountability
  • Good at managing and prioritising workload according to risk
  • You will be enthusiastic and passionate about your sector with strong communication skills
  • Organised and diligent with good analytical skills
