I have been the Finance Officer at Mainstay since the beginning of 2023.
My job is to support all aspects of finance ranging from managing company ledgers to cashflow planning, reporting directly to the Directors. Whilst doing so, I have full responsibility for ensuring all payments,
internal payroll, VAT returns and reconciliation of accounts are accurate and completed to a high, compliant standard at all times. Making certain that these figures balance is of upmost importance, so company finances are in check, and we comply with accounting legislation.
I have worked in a finance environment for 7 years; I began my career by starting as a finance apprentice for my local council, where I gained great insight into the accounts processes of a large organisation. This gave me a fantastic grounding, but I identified in order to really progress my career I should learn the accounts processes of a broader spectrum of organisations. Throughout the course of my career, I have worked within various sectors such as education, large corporations, and insurance, which has diversified my skillset.
I find my role here at Mainstay very rewarding and enjoy being a part of a crucial mechanism which helps drive the company as a whole. There is a sense of collaboration, and a true team-based culture and I have found it very easy to settle into my role. Whilst, generally speaking, I don’t have any direct dealings with our clients or our candidates and workers, I still try to represent and embody Mainstay as well as possible on a day-to-day basis. I am a big believer in great customer service as without our clients I wouldn’t have very much to do! For this reason, on the odd occasion, I do speak to clients or candidates, I try to be as friendly, helpful and informative as possible, to leave the best possible impression of Mainstay with that person. I am not a salesperson, but I see this as doing my bit to continue to build the brand and grow Mainstay.
Outside of work I have two adorable children who take up a lot of my time, whether that’s going to the park, drawing, or just messing around but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Being a mother has helped me grow as a person, in both confidence and happiness. Any spare time I have I like to attend rock concerts (not on a school night); and whilst I am a huge fan of any music, rock has my heart. I also like to go for walks to embrace nature and have a little adventure.
