Mainstay are working with an established client who due to contract wins are now looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The opportunity will be working within their housing, repairs and maintenance sector and will offer ample opportunity for progression and growth.
You may already be operating as a Quantity Surveyor/Assistant or an experienced Commercial Analyst and looking for the next stage in your career. The ideal candidate for our client will be commercially strong and financially focused and enjoy the technical aspects and a team-focused environment.
The role
- As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for actively pricing materials and labour for repairs and maintenance work streams
- You will focus on reducing costs and improving efficiencies, maximising value and ultimately making a profit
- Financially responsible for the technical aspects of the contract including procurement, invoicing, payments and cash flow control
- Working closely with direct labour and sub-contractors, ensuring all work is issued and has labour targets agree
- You will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the workforce, customers and client
- Procuring all materials, plant and subcontractors in line with company systems and procedures
- Producing monthly contract valuations of the unit’s actual deliverable
The candidate
- Previous experience in a similar role within a commercial environment
- Relevant industry qualifications – highly desirable
- Experience working with direct labour ideally working with repairs and property voids
- Proven track record of minimising cost and adding value
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Commercially minded with the ability to work on your own or as part of a team
